Jumping rope isn’t just a game for kids. In fact, it’s one of the oldest pieces of exercise equipment around. There’s a reason it’s stood the test of time. First, it’s relatively cheap. You can get one for less than $20. It’s portable so you can use it anywhere. And it burns lots of calories! This jump rope challenge courtesy of Burn Boot Camp will strengthen your upper and lower body while getting your heart rate going. A beaded rope holds its shape and is easier to control than a lightweight cloth or vinyl rope. Make sure you wear properly fitted shoes and don’t jump on carpet, or grass. Carpet and grass reduces the impact on your knees but the soft landing can lead to a twisted ankle or knee. Jumping on a wood floor is the best. If done properly jumping rope is lower impact than jogging. If it’s done wrong it’s worse. You should stay on your toes and don’t jump higher than an inch or so off the ground. Now you are ready for the jump rope challenge!
