How to Access the My Plan Beta on Android

The My Plan Beta is available to invited Android testers through Firebase App Distribution. Complete the steps below on the Android phone you plan to use for testing.

Before You Begin

You will need:

  • An Android phone
  • Access to your email on that phone
  • Your existing Burn Boot Camp login information

Important: You must uninstall the current Burn Boot Camp app before installing the beta. The beta cannot be installed over the version downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Step 1: Delete the Current Burn Boot Camp App

Before downloading the My Plan Beta, uninstall the Burn Boot Camp app currently installed on your phone.

  1. Find the Burn Boot Camp app on your home screen or in your app library.
  2. Press and hold the app icon.
  3. Tap Uninstall.
  4. Confirm that you want to remove the app.

Deleting the app will log you out, but it will not delete your Burn Boot Camp account, membership or account information. You will log back in after installing the beta.

Step 2: Sign Up to Be a Tester

On your Android phone, open the My Plan Beta tester signup page:

Enter the email address you want to use for beta testing, then tap Sign up.

Use an email address that you can access from the same Android phone. You may also be asked to sign in to the associated Google account.

Step 3: Confirm Your Email Invitation

After signing up, open your email app on your Android phone and look for the following invitation:

  • Email subject: Confirm your email to test Burn Boot Camp for Android
  • Sender: Burn Boot Camp via Firebase App Distribution

Open the email and tap Get started.

If you do not see the invitation, check your spam, junk or promotions folders. Make sure you are checking the same email address you entered on the tester signup page.

Important: The invitation is connected to the email address used during signup. Continue using the same email address and Google account throughout the installation process.

Step 4: Download the Latest Beta

After tapping Get started, your browser will open the Burn Boot Camp page in Firebase App Distribution.

Find the version marked Latest, then tap the blue Download button.

The download may take a few moments. Keep the browser open until the download begins.

Step 5: Open the Downloaded File

Once the download is complete, tap Open.

Depending on your phone, you may also find the downloaded file:

  • In your phone's notification panel
  • In the Downloads folder
  • In the My Files app
  • Listed as app.apk

Tap the downloaded APK file to begin the installation.

Step 6: Allow Installation From This Source

Because the beta is distributed directly through Firebase instead of the Google Play Store, Android may ask you to allow installations from an unknown source.

When the Permission required message appears:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Turn on Allow permission or Allow from this source.
  3. Return to the installation screen.

The wording and appearance may vary depending on your phone model and Android version. The permission may be shown for Chrome, My Files, Downloads or whichever app you used to open the APK.

This permission only allows the selected app to begin the beta installation. You may turn it off again after the My Plan Beta is installed.

Step 7: Install and Open the Beta

When the Install this app? message appears, tap Install.

Wait for Android to finish installing the Burn Boot Camp app. Once you see the App installed confirmation, tap Open.

Step 8: Log Back Into Burn Boot Camp

When the Burn Boot Camp welcome screen opens, tap Login and sign in using your existing Burn Boot Camp account credentials.

You can now begin testing the My Plan Beta.


Troubleshooting

The Beta Will Not Install

Confirm that you completely uninstalled the Google Play version of the Burn Boot Camp app before opening the APK.

If the existing app is still installed, Android may block the beta because the two versions use different signing credentials.

I Cannot Find the Invitation Email

Search your inbox for:

  • Confirm your email to test Burn Boot Camp for Android
  • Burn Boot Camp
  • Firebase App Distribution

Also check your spam, junk and promotions folders. Confirm that you are checking the same email address you entered on the tester signup page.

I Tapped Download, but Nothing Happened

Check your Android notification panel, Downloads folder or My Files app. The downloaded file may appear as app.apk.

You may also need to allow Chrome or your browser to download files.

Android Says the File Could Be Harmful

Android may show a warning because the beta is being downloaded outside the Google Play Store. Confirm that you downloaded the file from the official Burn Boot Camp Firebase App Distribution page before continuing.

I Do Not See the Permission Setting

Try opening the downloaded APK again. When Android displays the permission warning, tap Settings and enable Allow permission or Allow from this source for the app shown.

I Installed the Beta but Cannot Log In

Use the same login credentials you previously used for the Burn Boot Camp app. If needed, use the password-reset option from the login screen.

Returning to the Regular Burn Boot Camp App

Because the beta replaces the standard app on your phone, you will need to uninstall the beta before returning to the Google Play version.

  1. Uninstall the Burn Boot Camp beta.
  2. Open the Google Play Store.
  3. Search for Burn Boot Camp.
  4. Reinstall the regular app.
  5. Log back into your account.
