Client of the Month: Trisha Pena

After having children, Trisha let her fitness routine fall to the wayside. She was feeling sad and depressed and in an emotional rut. Since joining Burn, Trisha feels happy, motivated and in control!

I’ve always enjoyed being active and working out. After I had my first child in January of 2015, I started to give a lot of excuses as to why I wasn’t going to the gym or running on a regular basis like I had done before the baby was born. As a new, working mom, I always felt exhausted and if I had any downtime, I just wanted relax with my husband and son.  Then, in July of 2016, my husband and I welcomed our second child – another boy! – into our family. This was supposed to be such a happy time in my life, here I was with everything I’d always wanted: a wonderful family, a supportive husband, two beautiful, healthy children, a great job, yet I couldn’t help but I felt sad and depressed. I’ve been so lucky to have my mom, dad and siblings all live within 10 miles of me and help me out so much, but with two kids under two and a husband who travels for work four days a week, I still felt lonely and lost.

I didn’t know it then, but I needed to make a change. I was tired of being sad and depressed. I was tired of being exhausted and sluggish all the time. I wanted to have more energy to have  fun  playing with my boys. I wanted to regain confidence in myself so I could be the best mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend that I could possibly be. Most importantly, I wanted to do something that would make  me  feel like me again.

When my youngest son was about two months old, I woke up one  Thursday  morning and told my husband I was going to go to Burn Boot Camp. A friend of mine had encouraged me to try Burn before my second child was born, and I did go to one camp and had always wanted to go back, but my excuses got the best of me.  That  Thursday  morning, I went to the first possible camp I could make it to and I’ve been going four to six times a week ever since. Since Burn Boot Camp offers childcare, I didn’t have any excuses and committed to making it part of my weekly routine.

I’m not saying that going to Burn has fixed all my problems, but it has helped me more than I ever thought was possible. I have more natural energy to chase my 1 and 2.5-year-old boys around, I feel physically and emotionally stronger than I ever have in my entire life, and I’ve met some remarkable moms at camp that continue to inspire me in their own ways.

Burn Boot Camp has helped me focus on being the best possible version of myself, and at this moment in my life, I am genuinely so happy.
