
Before I found Burn Boot Camp, I wasn’t living, just existing. Going to work and back home to the couch. My sedentary lifestyle was my norm. What I didn’t realize was how isolated I had become. What I did realize was how much weight I had gained! The only socialization outside of the house was spent eating out. I only planned what I was going to eat next. That was really the only planning I did.
Since finding BBC, I have had undergone a COMPLETE transformation! I can’t take credit for finding BBC because my wonderful friend and colleague Crystal Lambeth introduced me, giving me the greatest gift I have ever received-the gift of true fitness and self-satisfaction. I have gone from 263 lbs to my current weight of 188 lbs, from a size 22 to a size 12! Starting with the Human Billboard program in Mooresville when that site launched, I then moved a little closer to my home on Mallard Creek to Huntersville. Then finally, as if just for me, Mallard Creek location was launched, putting me two minutes from home!!! I believe that what’s for you is for you-this was obviously for me!
Now, I am not as focused on losing weight as I am with toning, being fit, and incorporating healthy living. I still have a little ways to go to reach my goal weight, but I have never been so close. Eating better and staying active have changed my life. Devan told me the very first time we met that, “you can’t out train a bad diet.” I will NEVER forget that statement and will pass it on. For the first time in 20 years, I truly like who I see in the mirror.
I am the wife of the best husband EVER, mother of a 16yr old daughter and a 13yr old son, full time RN Traveler, senior RN-BSN student with a 27-hour course load this semester graduating May 18th.

I have been dieting off & on since I was 11. Name a diet & I have probably done it at least twice. Before I started bootcamp, I was eating healthy, rarely fast food, 5-6 fruits/veggies a day, organic, gluten free, etc. I have always been active both at home and at work, but couldn’t lose weight. I would lose the same 2 lbs 50 times over, sound familiar? I have belonged to several gyms off/on, and have tried about every exercise class sometimes doing 2 classes a day several days a week, except bootcamp. I was afraid of failure and the people who taught them. When a friend invited me to Burn Boot Camp, I had nothing to lose, because no one knew me there. It was difficult and I have never sweated so much in my life! But once I started, I was addicted. I am finally beginning to look like what I have dreamed of since college, standing beside the girl who had a personal trainer and had an amazing muscular, thin figure. I have never felt this strong & now have muscles in places I have never had before. My friends and family can’t believe “Lazy Bones ” who use to love to sleep late is going to boot camp early in the am almost every day. I have lost 31pounds, 9% body fat, and over 11 inches on my hips & waist combined since July. Thanks to my husband, friends and family for your support. Thanks to Devan for tweaking my diet, and providing the whole package: nutrition, support, ever changing workouts, & motivation!

I found out about Burn Boot Camp through my mommy group – LakeNormanMommies.com. The women were raving about the class and Devan so I knew I just had to check it out. I am a stay-at-home mom to two children and I had packed on some unwanted pounds through my pregnancies. I decided it was time to get back in shape and Burn Boot Camp was just the way to do it.
I have lost 32 pounds and 15 inches. I have reduced my body fat from 30% to 21% (and plan to improve this number even more!). I went from a size 12 to a size 4. I have never felt better. I have so much more energy than before. I actually look forward to my 5:30am workouts. In class I am surrounded by some of the most positive and motivating women. I have gained some wonderful friendships through this. The trainers are all amazing. They know what they are doing!
Nutrition is the other key component to being successful in becoming healthier. The trainers were more than willing to help me with a meal plan and answer any and all nutrition questions that I had.
I look forward to continuing this process to an even healthier me. I’m thankful to have the BBC trainers and fellow boot campers there to help me along the way.
Since the day my son was born 3 years ago, I have been one of those guilt-stricken working mothers. When my son first arrived I was spending 14-15 hours a day at work, along with some weekend time, and thus felt every other waking minute of every day had to be quality time spent with my son. That left no time for working out (or provided a well-thought-out excuse not to), so between lack of exercise and lots of meals being ordered in at client sites, the pounds added up quickly. I hated trying on clothes and tried to compensate with really cute shoes and accessories J After changing jobs and settling in to a much less hectic work schedule, I finally decided it was my turn and enough with the excuses! I decided there could be some truth to everyone who told me it was ok to put yourself first sometimes, and it really can provide a benefit to the whole family. I read about Devan’s boot camp in the Huntersville newspaper and figured I would give it a try; at least someone would be there to hold me accountable for attending (versus making my monthly donation to the nearby gym)! After 6 months of making small changes over time (no more sweetener in my coffee, limiting myself to 2 lunch meetings per week to reduce eating out, banana chips instead of potato chips, etc.), along with boot camp 3-4 days a week and squeezing in a run on the weekends, I have reached my mid-term goal and am down a clothing size! I don’t mind wearing sleeveless shirts anymore and love my clothes again (along with all the new ones I’ve had to buy J). Even though I haven’t reached my overall goal yet, I feel better knowing that I am trying to do something about my unhappiness in how I look, and I’m half way there! My posture has improved, and I have more energy to keep up with my 3 year old. I’m completing exercises now that I literally would laugh at 6 months ago. Devan has pushed me beyond what I thought were my limits; he has changed my mental strength along with my physical strength. Don’t get me wrong, I hate my alarm clock at 5am, but I know the results I have seen and the confidence I have gained back are worth it!”

“The saying we have all heard “I am uncomfortable in my own skin” sums up what my life was like before I met Devan. Emotionally and physically, I was a mess! I had every excuse in the book. Anyone who has ever struggled with weight loss knows all the feelings that go along with it. Clothes don’t fit, self confidence is low, negative self image, emotional eating and the list can go on. For me it was the realization I did not love myself. I wasn’t being the best I could be. I wasn’t living to my full potential. I will admit…I thought “ there is no way I can do a boot camp, push ups, I can’ t run, burpies… reallly!” Well I am happy to say I am down 46 lbs, I can do more than I ever thought possible. ” I met Devan at the grocery store actually. I never thought a random stranger approaching me in the grocery store could turn into a success story that goes on a highly respected fitness website! But here is my story..I never could get back into my old body! I used to be in decent shape, I felt like I was living in another persons body (a FAT persons) and there was no way I could EVER get back to my old fitness level. My name is Suzanne and I am 41 years old. I have three girls 14,12 and 2 and a wonderufl husband! Besides taking care of them I am also a teacher. Ialways have to make time to exercise. Before I started bootcamp I thought I was in pretty good shape. I ran,took spin classes and lifted weights. I never really felt like I was getting the results I wanted. My neighbor took me to bootcamp and I did not think I would make it through the class! I realized that for so long I had been exercising incorrectly. What an eye opener to use my body in such a new and challenging way. Since becoming a bootcamp member my life and the life of my family have changed.
