In today’s episode, we’re talking about taking risks and my personal experience in how stepping out of our comfort zone completely changed the course of my life.Â
When I look back on my story, I realized that I’ve been taking risks for the past 10+ years throughout my entire career. First, I had to step out of my norm and move to Naples for my first job with Kellogg’s. Then just as we were settling into life in Naples, I was offered a promotion to head to Charlotte. Eventually, I came to one of the biggest crossroads in my life. Do I continue climbing the corporate ladder or do I move my efforts full-time to Burn Boot Camp? You guys may know where we landed on that one, but it was SUCH a tough decision to make.
Each and every time these opportunities came up in my life, I asked myself “What’s the worst thing that could happen?” Most of the time, the worst thing is simply that we fail and then we move forward in a new direction. It’s so easy for us to fixate on what could go wrong when we start taking risks, but what we should be thinking is “What could go absolutely right?”Â
My experiences have taught me this: the best risk to take is on yourself. So, let’s not be afraid to get uncomfortable or to fail taking chances. Instead, let’s recognize that it’s all part of our journey and how much we owe it to ourselves to take that risk.
