Cortney’s Story In Her Own Words: How a Busy Mom of Two Turn Her Transformation Into a Passion
I knew I could commit to the workouts. I’ve always been an athlete, I love a challenge and am very competitive. I was also very motivated to not fall victim to the “mom body” stereotype. I was most skeptical about the clean eating meal plan – it all sounded a little too good to be true (“I can eat 4-6 times a day and not count calories?!”) and limiting (“It’s probably just tofu, greens and grapefruit”). So I researched and read everything I could get my hands on then decided to commit during the Ab-tober challenge at BBC and I haven’t looked back! I even transitioned my whole family to “eat clean” – that includes a meat/potatoes husband and a picky 2 year old! We eat lean meats, whole grains, fruits, veggies andnuts and never once have I felt underfed or deprived. As a mom, I love that I am teaching my kids from the very start how to have a healthy relationship with food and it is so rewarding to know that the foods are nutritious and don’t have any of the junk found in processed fake-foods.
After having 2 beautiful children in less than 2 years including 2 stints on bedrest, for the first time in my life I was out of shape, sluggish and my body became something I did not recognize. I gained 50 pounds during my first pregnancy and then quickly got pregnant 10 months later, so while I was close to my pre-baby weight between pregnancies nothing looked the way it used to. I gained back about 40 pounds during my second pregnancy and vowed to get back to “normal” ASAP
Thanks to my trainer Morgan at Burn Bootcamp – Cornelius and a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears I lost that baby weight and more in less than 5 months! My weight and body fat percentage are less than they were on my wedding day and I feel fantastic! I can see muscles I didn’t even know I had! I started camp 20 pounds heavier than my wedding weight and I’m excited to say that today I’ve lost just over 30 pounds over 10% body fat and 11 total inches. I’ve been a size 8-10 most of my adult life and now I can wear comfortably wear a size 6.
How do you feel now?
I feel amazing! So much energy even with a baby and a toddler running around and a new work schedule that gets me up at 4:15AM. Burn Bootcamp has become my home away from home. I look forward to camp every day and aside from the killer workouts (burpees and plank anyone?) my favorite part of BBC is being surrounded by women/moms with the same goals. It gives me the support I need to continue even on days I want to skip out. Any change is hard and everyone needs a support system to be successful. I was so lucky to have found that with Morgan at BBC – and of course my husband is always my biggest supporter.
